Cleaning Tip – How to remove wax from Carpets

wax-cleaningWax can be incredibly frustrating to clean up. An accident with hot wax can cause damage to your carpet and rugs, and without the right tools or knowledge about cleaning it up, it can really cause some damage. Don’t worry, in this article we will show you a simple method for cleaning up this mess with simple tools you probably already have around your house.

The supplies you need to do this are an Iron, distilled water, some white towels and a vacuum. Make sure you collect all these tools prior to starting this process, as some of the movements you must make need to be done quickly. Wax dries very fast, and if you aren’t prepared you might make a bigger mess.

The first step is to prepare the iron, add some distilled water to your iron, as you usually would if you were going to iron your clothing. And turn on your iron to a low setting. Next make sure you have you vacuum ready and handy, you will need to use it immediately after the next step.

Now, you will need to wet the towels, make sure they are pretty saturated. Having them dripping wet isn’t necessary, but do make sure they are thoroughly soaked. After doing this, put the towel on the wax spot, and place the iron over top of the spot. Again, make sure the iron is on a low setting. Leave the iron over top of the towel, which is over the spot for 30 – 45 seconds. This will heat up the wax, and allow for easier removal. After you remove the iron and the towel, immediately take your vacuum, very quickly, and vacuum up the spot. This will remove most of the wax. But don’t get discouraged if some remains, it might take a couple of times to get the wax up completely. If needed repeat this process until you are satisfied with the removal.

This method is pretty easy, but requires some quick movements. It will help get rid of the wax stain, as well as leaving your carpets freshly steamed!

I hope this helps you!
